in los angeles. >> hey, bill. good morning, everyone. vice president joe biden is meeting with the house today getting ready to, to put together that list of recommendations to curb gun violence. there is one point where both sides agree, punishing people who lie on their background checks. until 2010, nearly 80,000 people were denied guns for lying or giving inaccurate information about their criminal history. but, only 44 of those people were actually charged with a crime. this is one of the issues joe biden's task force is looking at and we can last timing expect his plan to include a stronger focus on background checks. those recommendations to the president could come as early as tomorrow. the group is also looking at mental health treatment, violence in video games and movies and a potential ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazine clips. the nra is, of course showing strong obviouspposition to. this yesterday ocnn's face the nation, group president david keen said an assault weapons ban will not make its way through congress.

just said. remember, when president obama asked joe biden to head up this effort looking at potential reform, remember, he initially said the effort was supposed to produce recommendations by the end of january. and so it was big news last week when we heard that vice president biden was actually planning to report to the president early. he wasn't waiting until the end of january. he was going to report in mid-january. he was planning on reporting hi recommendations by tomorrow, by tuesday. but then today at this press conference, we learned that actually, the vice president has already made his report to the president today. the vice president pushing up the time frame yet again. and president obama saying today that he will make further remarks later this week telling us what is going to happen next, given those recommendations. this is faster than the president even said it was going to happen. and he initially said it was going to happen fast. speed it turns out is central to the strategy. and that is turning out to be true both in washington and in the states that are moving ahe
